Local radio and TV personality Tom Sullivan believes in SERV. The SERV Store, located on Marietta Highway in Canton, is a for-profit business offering deep discounts on furniture, clothing, electronics and household items, and a percentage of sales is donated to SERV Ministries International to fund ministries in Kenya and the Dominican Republic. Their slogan is ‘Shopping With A Purpose’ as the store helps to grow the ministry by allowing them to quickly fund projects and accommodate the expenses of running an organization with a global presence. Their mission is simply stated: Feeding the hungry. Rescuing orphans. Providing clean water. Affecting life change.
Sullivan’s involvement with SERV began late last year when longtime friend Jim Vinyard, who is Director of Partnerships & Special Events for SERV International, introduced Sullivan to the organization. Sullivan is probably best known for his time on popular Atlanta radio station Star 94 and host of TV talk show Atlanta & Company.
After hearing about the goals and ambitions of the organization from Steve Kasha, founder and Executive Director of SERV International and one of the partners of the SERV Store, Sullivan decided SERV was a perfect fit with his belief that we are here to achieve special things. His ability to use his public platform promote the organization and increase its exposure across metro Atlanta made him feel that he could make a worthy contribution to this cause.
Sullivan’s approach to helping SERV has been multi-faceted, using his popular website tomonair.com as well as social media such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. And he has created a video to help people understand how SERV is helping others.
As part of his work with SERV, Sullivan has already participated in one mission trip to the Dominican Republic and will soon be leaving for Africa for his second venture. Below is the video that he compiled using photos from his Dominican Republic trip.
