What do you picture when you think of camping? Probably the great outdoors in the Fall time with your family sitting around a fire roasting marshmallows. Well, apparently the residents of Acworth and surrounding areas have a very different picture! This past Thursday was the grand opening of Cabelas, and one man has been camping in their parking lot – asphalt and all – since Tuesday morning at 11 am so that he could be the first person in the door.
The grand opening of the new Cabelas has been long awaited in the Cherokee County community. Residents have been excited about this new addition to our economic landscape since it was announced in late July of 2013. Not only is it a fun new shopping experience to add to the area, but it brings just as many positive economical influences as it does great inventory items. Young members of the workforce can look forward to a new place to make some extra money during the holiday season, and retail veterans will have another great company to work for in the area. In total, Cabelas will be offering 200 positions – a mixture of both full-time and part-time positions.
On Thursday, it was hard to miss the grand opening. The event had trafficked backed up for a mile on interstate 75, and a half mile in every direction on highway 92. Once you made it to the store, parking was a whole other adventure. But, as the weekend wears on traffic and parking problems will decrease. The store will continue to host unique events and guest appearances to keep the people coming.
What are you most excited about purchasing at the new Cabelas? A new fly fishing rod to try out in the north Georgia mountains, or a kayak to take out on the Etowah River?
