Did you participate in the Discover Woodstock scavenger hunt? The North Georgia Art Ramble kind of reminded us of the Woodstock scavenger hunt, but it also has a bit of a different flavor to it as well. That flavor, or theme if you will, is centered around art. We would like to point out that it is not just any art that the Art Ramble focuses its attention on. Instead, this is an annual opportunity for local artisans to share their artwork with the world within the intimate settings of the studios and galleries located throughout North Georgia.
All you have to do to participate is pick up a map, load up your car, and go! If you like to visit art fairs in North Georgia, and you appreciate the work and effort that people put into making one-of-a-kind masterpieces, then you will love this experience. Each stop on the North Georgia Art Ramble has something different to offer. As you travel from shop, to gallery, to in-home studio, you will have the chance to meet and greet the artist, and in many cases watch as the artwork is created before your very eyes.
Depending on which direction you choose to travel and which galleries or studios you stop in, this may expose you to a variety of genres of art. Perhaps you will observe a potter working with clay, you may experience the intense heat of a kiln as a glass artist fires the day’s wares, or you may see the gentle strokes used by a watercolor artist. Whatever you choose to experience over the two-day period of the North Georigia Art Ramble, we’ve heard that is going to be quite spectacular.
There is a reason that this event continues on each year. That reason has much to do with the success and unique experience that both artists and visitors are able to gain. Check out the YouTube video above from last year’s Art Ramble to find out more, and download a free map and brochure for more information about this year’s event. If you are not available to join in this year’s self-guided tour from 10am-6pm this Saturday and Sunday (December 6 and 7), please keep this event in mind for next year. Please also note that the opening reception takes place on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Cherokee Arts Center in Canton, GA.
