At Sixes Living we often have the privilege of crossing paths with the young people of Cherokee County School District who are searching for volunteer opportunities, work study opportunities, and internship opportunities as a part of their senior projects. The article written by Scot Turner in the August edition of Sixes Living (see p. 22) stood out as something that we wanted to make sure that middle school and high school students are aware of as they consider volunteer options. We thought the Page Program offered through the Georgia House of Representatives was certainly worth mentioning again for this segment of our county.
Georgia House of Representatives Page Program
If you are a young adult looking for an opportunity to serve and learn more about government, this is a great opportunity to pursue. If you are the parent of a young adult who has shown interest in government or politics, or perhaps needs more exposure in this area, this opportunity might just be the key.
Each year, District 21 Representative Scot Turner is given 10 slots for students to come to the Capitol as a part of the page program. A visit to the Page Program web page details information regarding the program, how to apply, and provides links to the application and other important documents.
Those wishing to apply to the program who reside within District 21 (Holly Springs) shall submit the application directly to District Representative Scot Turner.
Check out the other clubs and organizations in the Sixes Living area that offer volunteer opportunities as well.
