Farmer’s Market Season Begins in Cherokee County

Cherokee County Farmers MarketWith spring now in full swing and moving rapidly toward summer, the season for area Farmers Markets has begun in Cherokee County.  Here are details on a few of the largest and most popular in the area, and a brand new one at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.

The Woodstock Farmer’s Market

Presented by Hamilton State Bank the Woodstock Farmer’s Market will return for its 6th season in May and run through October with a new location and a second day. Beginning on Saturday, May 3, the Saturday market will be held downtown on Market Street between Mill and Maple Streets adjacent to the Elm Street Arts Village event green.

A new market will open Tuesday, May 6, at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta and will be set up in the center of shops near the food court.  Hours are 4:30-8 p.m. and special guest chefs will be on site every Tuesday to offer unique, hands-on demonstrations and product sampling. The first Farmers Market, on May 6, will feature about 35 vendors and include demonstrations from the Bread Beckers and Press Together Juice, and Natalie Keng, the Chinese Southern Belle.  In future weeks, demonstrators will include McNack’s Kitchen, Living Institute and Taqueria Tsunami.

River Church Farmers Market

Opening day for this event will be Tuesday May 6and run from 2 – 6 p.m. and weekly thereafter. River Church Farmer’s Market takes place at 2335 Ridge Rd. in Canton and includes local produce, farm fresh eggs and poultry, as well as unique items such as artisan breads, fancy fruit sorbets, and even great tamales. Pet clinics will be added to the mix.

Canton Farmers Market

Beginning on Saturday May 24 and continuing throughout the summer each Saturday from 8 am to noon, the Canton Farmer’s Market will take place at Cannon Park in Downtown Canton.  Come out to enjoy music, crafts, and great fun.
