Cherokee County Trails

March 20, 2015

The hiking, running, walking and biking trails in Cherokee County are among the best in the region. Between the collaborative efforts of the Woodstock chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA Woodstock), Greenprints Alliance, City of Woodstock, and Woodstock Parks and Recreation Department, there are more than 70 miles of planned and completed trails throughout the Canton and Woodstock areas of Cherokee County.SORBA Woodstock

The map of the Greenprints Trail System can be found on the Greenprints Alliance website woodstocktrails.com and on p. 61 of the March Sixes Living issue. This map details the funded, completed and proposed trails which, when completed, will stretch to more than 60 miles.

On the northern end of the proposed Greenprints Alliance trail system, one will find a completed system of mountain bike trails at Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trails that are maintainted by SORBA Woodstock. These are not yet tied in with the Greenprints Alliance system, but it is clear on the map that the system will be connected in the future. Meanwhile, mountain bikers are often spotted riding over 575 from near the Taylor Randahl Memorial Mountain Bike Trails at Olde Rope Mill Park to the Blankets Creek system in Canton off Sixes Road. The Blankets Creek trails are ranked at number seven on thesingletracks.com list of The BEST Mountain Bike Trails in the World.

We hope that with the spring weather here you’ll have plenty of chances to get out and enjoy the trails, whether by foot or by bike.
