School is in session, Friday nights mean football, and fall festivals are in store! For many families, this marks a busy time of year! We want to keep you updated with all of the fall events and festivals in North Georgia! Check out all that September has to offer:
First Friday-September 4
The September First Friday in downtown Canton is the Cherokee High Alumni Night! Get in your spirit wear and celebrate homecoming season! This event is free for the whole family and will feature live music from The Sock Hops.
Patriot Day Ceremony-September 11
The annual Patriot Day Ceremony will take place at the Public Safety Memorial in downtown Canton. This event will take place from 8:30-10:30am and will be presented by Cherokee County Public Safety.
Georgia Master Gardener Association State Conference-September 11 and 12
Whether you’ve got a green thumb or you want to learn some tips and tricks to keep from killing your garden varieties, the Georgia Master Gardener Association State Conference will having something for you! Join Sharon Collins of Georgia Outdoors, Kip McConnell of Southern Living, and Grumpy Gardener, Walter Reeves, at Hoag Auditorium on the University of North Georgia campus in Dahlonega.
The Cherokee Music Teachers Association-September 12
The Cherokee Music Teachers Association will host their first meeting of the season over brunch on September 12 at the Cherokee Arts Center. Find out more about the association at http://cherokeemta.org/.
Georgia Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association Meeting-September 12
The educational center at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park will host this meeting from 10:30am to noon on Setptember 12. During this free meeting, speaker Robert Jones, will share about the role Cherokee Indians played in the Civil War.
MUST Charity Golf Tournament-September 21
If you are interested in supporting a local cause, MUST Ministries is calling all golfers and sponsors for this Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the Pinetree Country Club. Find out more information.
Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival-September 26-27
This annual arts and crafts festival is presented by the Service League of Cherokee County. More than 200 juried arts and crafts vendors are drawn to this event and an equally impressive amount of visitors. Hours are from 10am-6pm on Saturday and from 10am-5pm on Sunday at Boling Park in Canton.
Events Beyond Canton
While we love all things Canton and Cherokee County, we can’t deny the fact that there are noteworthy events in September that take place beyond our county lines. As a result, we wanted to give a quick shout out for the following fall festivals that would make for a great family or group adventure!
